Our project of the month for January is “ECOAGE - Intergenerational solidarity towards an ecological life in Cyprus”, funded under the Active Citizens Fund programme in Cyprus and implemented by the Youth Empowerment Foundation - IEEN in partnership with the Association of Elderly Rights and Mental Health and the University College for Green Development (HGUt), Norway.
The primary goal of ECOAGE is to empower older adults to become environmental mentors to the younger generation by having an active role in inter-generational efforts on sustainable environmental practices in their own communities. Read more about the project here.
During the first phase of the project in October and November 2022, the project met with volunteers from the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot communities who provided their insights and experiences in regards to their everyday eco-friendly practices and their attitudes towards mentoring younger people and intercommunal activities. The participants’ feedback will be used to design the project’s activities and educational programme such as mentoring training, workshops and trips. Keep track of project updates here.
